Second stage oil on glass-like gessoed masonite. I'll let this dry for a couple of days then glaze in the table cloth. Then I'll finish the pitcher and the last cherry.

This painting shows a contemporary mother fighting against a dark world for the survival of herself and her children. The torch symbolizes Jesus Christ, who leads her through darkness, the armor symbolizes the Holy Priesthood for protection, and the weapons represent the gospel and the word. She is battle-worn and scarred, tired yet determined. She is leading the way for others to follow.
